For leaders of LGBT nonprofit boards
People aren’t born knowing how to be good members, and good members are critical to the success of every nonprofit group, including those in our community. Yet the volunteers who serve as members of nonprofit boards too often serve with little recognition or opportunity to network and enrich their skills as board members.
Since 2011, Horizons has offered a three-session annual program designed to address this lack of opportunity. You can find the schedule and line-up for the 2014 program here. The final session for the year will be a terrific opportunity to step back a little from the day-to-day concerns of being a board member and think about the larger arc of the LGBT movement – and what lies ahead. We’ll be joined by long-time LGBT leader and, until recently, the CEO of the Gill Foundation, Tim Sweeney, who will share some of his thoughts and facilitate a dialogue about the community’s future
