Welcome to Horizons Foundation’s New Website

Welcome to Horizons Foundation’s new website! My colleagues and I could hardly be more excited about it and hope that you’ll enjoy its design and content as much as we expect you will.

Our goal with this new site goes beyond creating a place with useful information about the foundation and its various programs (though that’s certainly part of our aim). It’s meant as a destination site for LGBT philanthropy, a hub for information about the LGBT community, nonprofit organizations that serve and advocate for our community, and donors who support LGBT groups and causes. Some of the elements of that “hub” are already in place, such as information on a multitude of grant seeking and educational opportunities.

[This website is] meant as a destination site for LGBT philanthropy, a hub for information about the LGBT community, nonprofit organizations that serve and advocate for our community, and donors who support LGBT groups and causes.

Give, Apply, Learn, and Connect

You’ll notice that we’ve organized the site around four major areas: Give, Apply, Learn, and Connect. These reflect what Horizons Foundation does every day. In “Give,” you can find resources and information about why and how – and what – you can give to support the LGBT movement and the Bay Area’s LGBT community. In “Apply,” nonprofits will locate everything needed to access Horizons’ grant and other opportunities. The “Learn” and “Connect” sections take you to information, calendars, and resources to learn more about philanthropy and the LGBT community and to connect with other donors, nonprofit leaders, professional advisors, and others.

All kinds of features – and more to come!

There are lots of other exciting features that we will be unveiling soon. These include a new searchable database of the foundation’s grants, which is geared both as information for nonprofit groups and as a resource for donors. Our brand-new online Directory of Professional Advisors for the LGBT Community will provide information about scores of estate planning attorneys, financial advisors, and other professionals who serve our community. You’ll also be able to set up your own personal “dashboard” that summarizes information most relevant to you.

You’ll be hearing more about these and other features as we continue building them in the coming months.

I hope you enjoy the site. We always welcome feedback, so please contact us.
