Guide to Gift Planning for the LGBT Community - Horizons created this guide as a free resource to help you think about and plan the legacy you want to leave. The guide also highlights how planned gifts to LGBT causes are the key to securing our community's financial future.
Securing Our Community's Future - For the LGBT community, planning for the long-term future has been challenging as we've had to face urgent needs every day. Yet that's exactly what we must do to provide the ongoing care and support our community members need and deserve. Horizons Foundation has a plan to build permanent resources that serve the LGBT community in the San Francisco Bay Area - forever.
California-based Foundation Funding of California LGBT Nonprofits - Analyzing data on grantmaking by California-based foundations, this report shows that the foundations' funding of California LGBT nonprofits represents only a very small portion of their overall grantmaking. Despite a trend of increased grantmaking to LGBT nonprofits nationally, foundation support for LGBT nonprofits within California declined between 2006 and 2009 (the most recent data available), even as their total grantmaking in California increased.
Directory of Professional Advisors for the LGBT Community - Created in response to numerous requests for referrals to professional advisors, this directory is intended to assist our donors and others in the community seeking professional advice that considers the particular legal, economic, and social needs of LGBT people.
Building a New Tradition of LGBT Philanthropy - By all indications, LGBT people are as generous as other Americans. So why are less than 5% of them giving to support LGBT causes? More importantly, how can LGBT nonprofits capture more LGBT dollars? These are the central questions raised by research released by Horizons Foundation.
