Welcome to my marathon home page! Thank you to all of you who supported me in my effort to run 12 marathons in 12 months in 2009. Your contributions raised over $16,000 for Horizons Foundation and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community. If you missed supporting me last year, you have a silver opportunity to do so this year... I will be running the Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010... which will be my 25th marathon since I started running marathons five years ago.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Horizons Foundation serves the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community by making grants, strengthening LGBT organizations and leadership, and increasing philanthropic giving. Here is a quick one-pager about Horizons Foundation.

I’m also excited to announce the James C. Hormel and Michael P. Nguyen 30th Anniversary Challenge—a matching grant designed to promote LGBT giving, a core element of our mission. The way the challenge works is that any gift of $100 or more from a new Horizons donor will be matched one-for-one, doubling the impact of the gift.

While you can make a donation in any amount, here are a few fun suggested donation amounts:

  1. $26.20 ($1 for each mile in a marathon)
  2. $125 ($5 for each marathon I have run. If you are a new donor to Horizons, your donation will be doubled-see above)
  3. $655 ($1 for each of the miles run in 25 marathons: $1 * 25 * 26.2)

Please note: if you are already a supporter of Horizons, please consider this donation to be seperate from, and not in lieu of, your annual donation to Horizons.
