QGiving makes it easy for donors to give to LGBT nonprofits online, search by keyword or category, and learn more about LGBT organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

To collect donations online:

1. Go to www.justgive.org/qgiving. (NOTE: For this process, be sure to use this URL rather than "www.qgiving.org.")
2. Type in the name of your organization using the search feature. Be sure to check the spelling, as the name of your organization will appear exactly as it appears on your Form 990 (for 501c3 nonprofits).
3. When you find your organization, click on the "Donate Now" button, and simply copy the URL as it appears in the address bar.
4. Choose one of the QGiving "Donate" buttons below to add to your website. To save the button image, right-click on it, then select "Save Picture As" from the menu that appears. (If you'd prefer to use a text hyperlink instead of a button, you can skip this step.)
5. Add the button/text to your website and link it to the URL you copied above. (You may want some help from your webmaster for this step.)


IMPORTANT: On your website next to the Donate button, be sure to tell donors that "JUSTGIVE" will appear on their credit card statement - they process the donations on our (and your) behalf.

If you are a 501c3 nonprofit, we also recommend updating your information on GuideStar.org. This database of nonprofits is QGiving's main source of information, which we periodically update. GuideStar has tutorials to help you with the process, which is free.

If you are a fiscally sponsored project of another 501c3, please let Horizons know about any major changes in your program focus so we can update your QGiving descriptions.

• Email your supporters to let them know you now accept donations online. You can also make announcements at your events, meetings, and other gatherings. (It's a wonderful piece of news that doubles as an opportunity for them to give!)
• Include your QGiving link in your e-news. Short "Donate" and "Tell a Friend" sections can become a regular part of every e-newsletter - even ones in plain text.
• Add your QGiving link to the bottom of all of your outgoing emails. This is a simple way to get people interested in giving to you online, with a one-click way to get there. If your group runs any discussion lists, include a link in the list's signature as well.
• If you have preprinted reply envelopes for donations, include the URL for your website's donation page. Even if donors mail a check that time, they may donate online next time.
• Print out 1/3 sheet flyers with your URL and the QGiving logo or the "Out Your Wallet" image. You can drop these into any letters you send out, or pass them out at events. We've included some templates below.
