Planning for "Unmarried" Couples:
A seminar for professional advisors in accounting, investing, and insuring
Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
Program from 8:30-10:00 a.m.
This seminar is for advisors whose clients include same-sex or unmarried couples. Learn how to spot issues specific to these clients and discover how to make appropriate planning decisions, whether for their accounting, investing, or insuring needs.
The session will also address the tax and other implications of planning for couples who are registered domestic partners in California. Is community property a real alternative without federal recognition? What are the differences between planning for life or planning for incapacity or death?
Three leading professionals will discuss the potential pitfalls and hurdles faced by advisors, as well as suggesting practical solutions when assisting these clients with their important decisions.
Rattan Dodeja is a Financial Consultant with Smith Barney in San Francisco, California. He focuses on financial and retirement planning for individuals and businesses in the community.
