Advocacy, Awareness & Civil Rights

DCARA - Deaf Gay & Lesbian Center (DGLC) - $2,000
The Deaf Counseling, Advocacy & Referral Agency (DCARA) is the nation's oldest service agency and the Bay Area's largest social service agency "of, by, and for" deaf, hard of hearing, and late deafened individuals serving the 14-county region of Northern California. This grant is in support of DGLC's Video Clip Project.
Legal Aid Society/ Employment Law Center - $5,000
The Legal Aid Society/Employment Law Center offers free legal services, advocacy, and education to indigent people and is a nationally recognized authority on the complex challenges facing working individuals. This grant is in support of LAS's "Employment Rights of Gender Non-Conforming Individuals Project."
Nonprofit Song That Radio - $2,500
Song That Radio is a nonprofit organization created to meet the needs of the often-isolated Vietnamese LGBT population in the Bay Area. This grant will support Song That Radio's programming and events for this community
Transgender Law Center - $5,000
The Transgender Law Center (TLC), California's first Transgender legal organization, connects community members to technically sound and culturally competent legal services. This grant is in support of TLC's Community Legal Services Program.
Trikone - $2,500
Trikone's mission is to use social and political programs to create supportive, healthy, empowering and nonjudgmental environments where queer South Asians can meet, make connections, and proudly promote awareness and acceptance of their ethnicity and sexuality in society. This grant is for general support.

Elders

Curry Senior Center - $2,000
Curry Senior Center is a 30-year-old community nonprofit that provides comprehensive services to low-income elders living in the Tenderloin/South of Market areas. This grant is in support of their "Lunch Bunch" gatherings for LGBT seniors.
Lavender Seniors of the East Bay - $3,000
Founded in 1994, Lavender Seniors is the only organization in the East Bay devoted to serving LGBT seniors age 55 and older. This grant is for general support.
Open House - $4,000
Openhouse seeks to build the first mixed-use, mixed income senior housing with social and healthcare services that welcomes the LGBT community. This grant will support Open House to hire a Community Diversity Specialist.
Progressive Research and Training for Action (PRTA) - $5,000
PRTA is committed to improving LGBT lives by offering consultation services and cultural competency training to mainstream and LGBT organizations. This grant is in support of the Ruth Ellis Initiative to train elder service/care providers about the specific needs of LGBT seniors.
Purple Moon Dance Project - $5,000
Purple Moon Dance Project (PMDP) was founded in 1992 by Artistic Director Jill Togawa to increase the visibility of lesbians and women of color and to encourage social change, peace and healing in our society through the medium of dance. This grant is in support of the "Strong/Fit/Flexible" movement program for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender seniors.

Arts & Culture

Aeromestiza Project - $2,000
The Aeromestiza Project promotes the creation and production of multimedia interdisciplinary performance that explores the experiences of mixed-race lesbians. This grant is in support of publication materials for the Project.
Fresh Meat Productions - $2,500
Fresh Meat Productions promotes the creation, development and performance of original dance, spoken word music and theater that authentically explore the transgender/queer experience. This grant is in support of Fresh Meat Productions' transgender arts programming.
Jon Sims Center for the Arts - $3,500
The Jon Sims Center for the Arts (JSC) is a multidisciplinary performing arts presenter and service organization offering programs that address the artistic, intellectual, social and community needs of all the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgendered/questioning and queer-identified (LGBTQ) communities of the Bay Area. This grant is in support of Jon Sims' AIRspace (Artist In Residence) program.
Liquid Fire Productions - $5,000
Liquid Fire Productions empowers lesbians of color to create, develop and stage original multidisciplinary performance that authentically expresses their experience, promotes liberation and fosters social change. This grant is in support of a half-time Artistic Director position.
Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project - $7,500
The mission of the Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project is to promote the creation and exhibition of films/videos that reflect the experiences, stories and lives of queer women of color and that address social and political issues. This grant is in support of the Artistic Director and Screening Curator positions
Quelaco - $5,000
Quelaco promotes the development, production and presentation of multidisciplinary arts by and for queer Latinos in the San Francisco Bay Area, fostering discussions on social justice, art and culture. This grant is for general support.
Transcendence Gospel Choir - $5,000
Transcendence Gospel Choir is a music ministry and a gospel choir. Whose membership consists entirely of transgendered and intersexual individuals. This grant is for general support.
Works/San Jose Gallery Queer Arts Festival - $2,500
WORKS/San Jose is a nonprofit volunteer-run contemporary art and performance space dedicated to providing a venue for artists, ideas and images that expand the scope of cultural and artistic experience. This grant is in support of the Queer Arts Festival: Body Commodities/Queer Packaging project.

Children, Youth & Families

Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center - $2,000
Founded in 1987, Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center is the oldest and most comprehensive HIV services organization in North America targeting Asian and Pacific Islander (A&PI) communities. This grant is in support of API Wellness' work with LGBTQQ A&PI youth though the AQU25A and HOPE programs.
Center for Young Women's Development (CYWD) - $5,000
CYWD's mission is to provide gender-specific, peer-based opportunities for high-risk low-and no-income young woman to build healthier lives and healthier communities. This grant is in support of the Nelly Velasco Project for lesbian and bisexual women.
Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere (COLAGE) - $5,000
COLAGE engages, connects and empowers people to make the world a better place for children of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) parents and families. This grant is for general support of COLAGE's programming.

The Dimensions Collaborative Clinic Provides free comprehensive health services for LGBTQQ youth during weekly Thursday evening clinics. This grant is for general support.
Family Builders by Adoption - $4,000
Family Builders by Adoption is a nonprofit adoption agency, serving children with special needs. This grant is in support of the "Breaking the Barriers Program," which provides training for adoption and child welfare professionals to support gay and lesbian adoption.
Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) - $5,000
  San Francisco-East Bay
The mission of the Gay and Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) San Francisco-East Bay is to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. This grant is for general support.
Lighthouse Community Center - $2,000
The Lighthouse Community Center is a nonprofit community center serving GLBT people in the Hayward area. This grant is in support of the Lavender Youth Action Project.
NIA Collective - $2,000
NIA Collective is the only organization in Northern California with an exclusive focus on providing information, resources and culturally focused activities for Black lesbians. This grant is to support youth stipends and the development of NIA's youth mentoring program.
Our Family Coalition - $1,000
Our Family Coalition offers an array of social and educational programs, a quarterly newsletter, domestic partnership registration, a comprehensive informational website, information and referrals for current and prospective parents, opportunities for its members to be heard and seen in the media, and e-mail lists for parents to network with and support one another. This grant is in support of OFC's social and educational programs in the East Bay.
Transgender Youth Ethnography Project - $2,000
"Some Reasons For Living", a 25-minute Ethnography/Documentary, examines the day-to-day struggles in the lives of two Transgender Latina Women and explores their sisterly relationship by watching them talk about their relationships, work and life. This grant is in support of the documentary Project
Women's Educational Media - $2,000
Women's Educational Media's mission is to produce and self-distribute documentary films on issues of social and economic justice as a means for creating long-lasting social change. This grant is in support of the Respect for All Project.
Youth Together - $4,000
Youth Together (YT) was formed in 1996 as a community-based response to increased interracial and hate-motivated conflicts and violence in our schools. This grant is in support of YT's Queer Youth Program.

Health & Human Services

Community United Against Violence (CUAV) - $5,000
Community United Against Violence is an anti-oppression, multicultural agency whose mission is to prevent and respond to violence against and within the diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning communities. This grant is in support of CUAV's Hate Violence Program.
Face to Face - $5,000
Face-to-Face is a comprehensive AIDS service organization serving the HIV-affected community of Sonoma County since 1985. This grant will support the work at the Guerneville office serving low-income Gay and Bi men with HIV/AIDS.
Lyon-Martin Women's Health Services, Inc. - $5,000
Founded in 1979, Lyon-Martin Women's Health Services is a nonprofit community health center providing comprehensive health and social services with a special focus on lesbian, bisexual, queer women; transgender people; and women who have sex with women. This grant is for general support.
Marin AIDS Project - $4,000
Marin AIDS project is the primary provider of HIV/AIDS services and prevention education in Marin County. This grant is in support of the Entre Hombres program.
New Leaf: Services For Our Community - $5,000
New Leaf: Services For Our Community is the nonprofit multipurpose counseling center for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities of San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area. This grant is for general support.
Pacific Center for Human Growth - $5,000
The Pacific Center has been serving the LGBTQ Bay area communities for 29 years and is the third oldest LGBT center in the country. This grant is in support of a front desk staff position.
Positive Resource Center - $5,000
The mission of Positive Resource Center is to assist people living with HIV/AIDS through culturally appropriate counseling, education, training and independence of those infected with HIV. This grant is for general support.
Asian Women's Shelter - $3,000
AWS's mission is to eliminate domestic violence by promoting the social, economic and political self-determination of women. This grant is to support the Queer Asian Women's Services program.
Tenderloin AIDS Resource Center (TARC) - $7,000
TARC is a nonprofit community-based organization that meets the needs of the diverse and often ignored residents of San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood. This grant is in support of TARC's third annual Trannyweek.
United Genders of the Universe! - $2,000
United Genders of the Universe! operates the only existing all-ages genderqueer support group, which meets weekly at the Pacific Center for Human Growth in Berkeley, CA & at the LGBT Center in San Francisco, CA. This grant is for general support.
Women's Cancer Resource Center - $4,000
WCRC's mission is to empower women with cancer to be active and informed consumers and survivors; to provide community for woman with cancer and their supporters; to educate the general community about cancer; and to be actively involved in the struggle for a life affirming, cancer free society. This grant is in support of a year of awareness, education and training about cancer and other health care issues for lesbians and transgender people.
