HIV/AIDS Grantees

Since 1999, Horizons Foundation has collaborated with the San Francisco AIDS Foundation on our annual HIV/AIDS Community Grants. Funded by revenues from the AIDS Walk and AIDS Marathon events, grants are made to organizations working to ensure access to AIDS treatments, stop the spread of HIV, and offer critically needed housing assistance and other services.

In 2007, Horizons also partnered with the National AIDS Fund/Elton John AIDS Foundation to distribute funding through our HIV/AIDS Community Grants to organizations working on HIV prevention and needle exchange.

Horizons brings our years of experience in grantmaking to this program, and the expertise of diverse community members informs the final recommendations.

The San Francisco AIDS Walk is a 10-kilometer walkathon for which individuals and members of corporate and community-group teams collect pledges from family, friends, and co-workers to help fund organizations providing HIV/AIDS services in San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, and San Mateo counties. The National AIDS Marathon Training Program was developed by Walk-The-Talk Productions in 1998 to raise money for urgently needed AIDS services.
