LGBT Mapping

Even for those of us for whom LGBT work is our day-job, sometimes it’s difficult to keep clear what’s happening in this movement. A law changes here, a new policy – for good or for bad – is adopted over there, and, somewhere or another, at any time, some basic right is almost certainly hanging in the balance.

There’s simply a lot going on.

That’s why I wanted to share a wonderful resource developed earlier this year from the Movement Advancement Project: a set of “Equality Maps” that allow you to see the “state of America” with respect to any of a dozen or so issues (school policies, marriage/relationships, families, adoption, etc.). Check them out here: http://lgbtmap.org/equality-maps.

If you ever doubt that we’re living in a truly historic time, take a look at these every so often – and watch them change, day by day, month by month, year by year.

Thank you, MAP, for creating them. And thanks to every single person who’s contributed to help move history in the right direction.
