Horizons is thrilled to announce the ten outstanding LGBTQ nonprofit organizations based within the nine counties of the San Francisco Bay Area who have received a Fall 2025 Donor Engagement Award. Horizons Foundation supports donor engagement opportunities to build new relationships and increase a culture of LGBTQ giving.

The Markowski-Leach Scholarship Fund, housed at Horizons Foundation, annually awards scholarships to Bay Area students working to make an impact on other LGBTQ people and aspiring to be role models for the community. Horizons is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 awards cycle.
California is a refuge from anti-LGBTQ policy nationwide. We need funding to keep it that way.
The CA Budget Act of 2025 passed the California legislature last week, meaning a continuation of funding for the LBTQ health equity—managed by Horizons—had survived the budget negotiations, guaranteeing six more months of funds to address health inequities experienced by Californians who identify as lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and/or queer. Horizons' Maritza Martinez reflects on the California communities who will feel the impact of this continued funding.
