Horizons is the world's first community foundation of, by, and for LGBTQ people.
We invest in LGBTQ nonprofits, strengthen a culture of LGBTQ giving, and build a permanent endowment to secure our community’s future for generations to come.
The future is ours
We fund throughout the LGBTQ community, often prioritizing innovative, grassroots solutions in service to its most under-resourced populations.
From four decades of experience and relationships, we are experts on LGBTQ issues in the SF Bay Area — and the best partner in your charitable giving.
We promote legacy giving, including to our LGBTQ Community Endowment Fund, which will support our community for generations to come.
Join us for our annual State of the LGBTQ Movement on Wednesday, December 1!
This year, we’ve seen the start of a new administration, the continuation of a pandemic, and social justice battles waged in classrooms and state legislatures. Where do we go from here?
At the beginning of our 40th Anniversary, we adopted a new, five-year strategic plan.
We've set ambitious goals and created a roadmap to advance our vision of a world where all LGBTQ people live freely and fully.
Over a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, we're working in community to rebuild.
At the start of the pandemic, Horizons awarded $1 million in emergency grants to Bay Area LGBTQ nonprofits. A year later, recognizing the ongoing need, we launched the LGBTQ Resilience and Recovery Fund to provide more targeted support.
We awarded an additional quarter million in grants to fund COVID-related direct services.
Our latest 18 grantee partners are providing targeted to the most underserved segments of the LGBTQ community as we work together toward an eventual recovery from the pandemic.
2020 was Horizons' 40th Anniversary.
Join us in looking back at our four-decade history in our recent publication 40 Years in Community, which also serves as the foundation's latest annual report.
