Announcing Six LGBTQ Student Trailblazers - Markowski-Leach Scholarship

Horizons Foundation is proud to announce the seven recipients of the Horizons LGBTQ Scholarship, who were awarded a total of $60,000. The scholarship awards funding to LGBTQ students entering higher education, whose LGBTQ identity has influenced their academic goals, and who have demonstrated a commitment to the LGBTQ community. For the 2026-2027 academic year, the Horizons LGBTQ Scholarship awarded scholarships to graduates of the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD). This scholarship aims to invest in OUSD graduates and further our vision of a world where all LGBTQ people live freely and fully

Horizons Foundation is honored to offer these young advocates financial support to continue their advocacy and education. Their future endeavors focus on an array of LGBTQ issues, including mental health advocacy, education, the arts, and creating safe spaces.
