Just as there are many reasons to give, there are many ways to give as well. Find the right approach for you, based on your own circumstances and what you want to accomplish with your gift. Here are just some of the possibilities:

Support Horizons Foundation

Give with ease and confidence by donating directly to Horizons Foundation. Your gift enables us to support scores of nonprofits serving the LGBT community, strengthen LGBTQ leadership and philanthropy, and build for our community’s future.

Create a donor-advised fund

Enjoy this efficient and convenient way to support all the specific causes and organizations that matter to you over time — while receiving valuable tax benefits. Write one check for all your charitable donations, tell us where you’d like them to go (both now and in the future), and we’ll distribute and track your donations for you.

Leave a legacy

Designate part of your estate for the LGBTQ community to make a difference not only during your lifetime, but also long after you’re gone. We offer numerous ways to plan your legacy, including the LGBTQ Community Endowment Fund, a permanent fund for our community’s future.

Join a donor circle

Come together with other donors who share your commitment to an issue or a community. You’ll pool your contributions, learn together, and decide where to grant the funds collected.

Join HYPE (Horizons Young Professionals for Equality)

Join this vibrant group of LGBTQ young professionals who support the community — and have a great time doing it.

Give at your workplace

Enlist your workplace’s paycheck-deduction or gift-matching programs whenever available, and double or even triple the impact of your gifts.

The Queer Ancestor’s Project is an annual free 18-week workshop for LGBTQ artists between the ages of 18-26 who study printmaking and LGBTQ history to create and exhibit prints exploring queer and trans history.  Horizons caught up with Katie Gilmartin and some of the participating artists to learn more about why it’s important that younger generations connect with their queer history:

Katie:  “This is an important moment in history…”  Read More.

Donor-Advised Funds

A Donor-Advised Fund can help you take a tax deduction in the current year, avoid capital gains from the sale of highly appreciated assets, and spread the granting of charitable gifts over an unlimited number of years.
