OVERVIEW

The Markowski-Leach Scholarship fund is the legacy of Tom Markowski and Jim Leach. They wanted to “make a difference” by creating positive role models for LGBTQ people through supporting their education. Recipients will exemplify excellence in their life, study, and/or work, demonstrating future promise of “making a difference” themselves. They must attend San Francisco State University; Stanford University; UC Berkeley; UC College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly Hastings); UC San Francisco; University of San Francisco; or California Institute of Integral Studies. Students applying to, or planning to transfer into, one of these universities may apply for the Scholarship even if their application has not yet been formally accepted. During their award period, students must be enrolled full-time in a program which will lead to a degree or a teaching credential.
