A New Year’s Message from Horizons’ President

As we step into a new year, I find myself reflecting on the message at the heart of our last annual report: “The Power of Us.” It’s a theme that continues to guide and inspire Horizons’ work today. It speaks to the collective strength of our LGBTQ community and the impact we create when we stand up — together.
My colleagues and I begin this year with deep gratitude for you. Whether you’re a donor, a grantee partner, or a longtime community member, your support and your actions make our work possible. As a result, the foundation was able to bring more funds to our community in 2025 than ever before.
Horizons exists because of a connected and caring LGBTQ community that shows up for one another — you, me, and thousands more. We are a force for good, especially when we are connected, working together. And staying connected matters more than ever. As LGBTQ people continue to be targeted by the current administration, dismissed by our courts, and harmed by policies that undermine our rights, dignity, and safety, we will not back down.
We invite you to stay close. In 2026, we’ll be offering more sessions for donors and community programs. We’ll be working — with your help — to bring even more resources to our community nonprofits, both financially and through targeted organizational assistance programs. There will be chances to learn directly from our grantee partners, share your voice, deepen your giving, and help ensure that no part of our LGBTQ community stands alone. This is “The Power of Us” in action.
With your support, Horizons will continue to meet this moment with courage, care, and vision. We will work harder than ever to carry out the foundation’s mission by investing in our LGBTQ community, nurturing bold queer philanthropy, and building a permanent endowment to sustain us through uncertainty and into the future.
Thank you for being part of the Horizons community. We are honored to begin this year with you — grounded in shared purpose, strengthened by connection, and united in our commitment to a world in which, in the words of the foundation’s vision statement, all LGBTQ people live freely and fully.
