President Roger Doughty Also Recognized for 20 Years of Service

October 4, 2022 (San Francisco) - On Saturday, October 1, Horizons Foundation, the world’s first LGBTQ community foundation, honored Chicana activist Olga Talamante with the Visionary Award and Levi Strauss Foundation with the Leadership Award. Raising over $300,000 for the foundation’s critical work, the Gala, a hybrid event at the Fairmont Hotel and online, also recognized Horizons’ President Roger Doughty for 20 years of service to the foundation. The entire program can be viewed here

Visionary Award honoree Olga Talamante rose to prominence as a political prisoner in Argentina in the ‘70s. A lifelong activist for the Latinx and LGBTQ communities, she served as Executive Director of the Chicana Latina Foundation for 15 years, and has served on boards for nonprofits such as the National Center for Lesbian Rights and Horizons Foundation.

Leadership Award honoree Levi Strauss Foundation advances pioneering social change on the issues and events of our time. They strive for meaningful impact over the course of decades within their core program areas focused on advancing social justice, improving the lives of apparel workers, and reducing the social inequities that drive the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Horizons’ President Roger Doughty was also recognized for 20 years of service to the foundation. Since becoming President, Roger has overseen the significant expansion of Horizons’ grantmaking and programs as well as the establishment and growth of the LGBTQ Community Endowment Fund, a permanent source of resources for the LGBTQ community.

Horizons thanks Equality sponsor Dolby; Advocate sponsors Brio Financial Group, BTS, The California Wellness Foundation, Masto Foundation, PG&E, and Union Bank; and the many other institutional partners, individual donors, and donor advisors whose generous support allows Horizons to continue its crucial work.
