The Asylum project is to secure equal protection under law for individuals seeking political asylum because of persecution based on sexual orientation or HIV status. The Project provides documentation and other support services to attorneys and their clients. The Project also provides trainings for INS personnel on asylum based on sexual orientation and engages in advocacy to ensure supportive practices at the UNHCR, the State Department, and the Department of Justice
