Growing philanthropy lies at the heart of Horizons' work. Philanthropy does more than just provide funding for nonprofits - it's an opportunity for your clients to take care of their community, make connections with each other, connect with the larger LGBT movement, and invest in its future. Philanthropy can also help your clients save taxes and take care of their loved ones.
The expertise of Horizons' staff can help your clients connect their financial interests with their charitable giving. Horizons Foundation staff can provide important and up-to-date information about LGBT and other socially relevant organizations in the Bay Area, nationally, and internationally. We can assist in creating an individual strategic giving plan aligned with your clients' values and interests for either lifetime or testamentary giving.
Horizons Foundation has a state-of-the-art donor-advised fund program, which has a myriad of benefits for your clients including online access to funds, excellent investment options, low or no fees, and excellent client service. Horizons encourages advisors with LGBT clients to learn more about our Donor-Advised Fund Program:
We also offer several ways to make legacy gifts to Horizons. Horizons staff can work with you and/or your clients directly to help devise the best strategy to achieve their charitable goals while they are in the process of estate planning.
As the Bay Area's sole philanthropic institution dedicated to the LGBT community across all borders of geography, population, and issues, Horizons Foundation is an ideal choice for charitable bequests because we'll be here in the future - to serve needs that are unknowable today. Organizations can come and go, and issues change or fall away. Horizons Foundation will be here to ensure that donors' intentions are served.
The LGBT Community Endowment Fund at Horizons Foundation is a flexible, but permanent, fund that allows for specific named funds ($50,000 minimum), as well as issue-specific designations ($100,000 minimum). Horizons Foundation can also serve as a distribution vehicle for other nonprofits in our community if a client has a large or complicated asset (such as real estate or a charitable remainder trust) with multiple beneficiaries.
